Harpies • They are monsters with the face of a woman and a body of a vulture • There are three of them and they will relentlessly shriek, peck, and torment anything they see • They are sent to seize anyone who is unwilling to die • They are sent by Hades
Charibdis • Lives on a side of a narrow channel • He is a giant monster that makes giant whirlpools • His whirlpools suck up anything that comes by
Sirens • The sirens are monsters with the head of a woman and the body of a bird • They would lure sailors onto the island with their song that they could not resist • If the sailors did not crash would quickly get eaten • Odysseus was the only person to survive the song he did this by putting wax in his ears
Scylla • Lived on the other side of the narrow channel • It had 6 heads and 12 feet and was very disgusting • Odysseus survived Charibdis but Scylla ate 6 of his men
Minotaur • The minotaur has the head of a bull and the body of a man • The minotaur was placed in a labyrinth that was impossible for him to get out • King Minos sent in 7 men and 7 women as revenge for his dead son • Theseus tied a string to a rock at the entrance • Then he found the minotaur killed him and • Followed the string back to the entrance
Chimeras • The chimera is a monster that has a head of a lion a tail of a dragon, and the body of a goat • Bellerophon was one man to slay the chimera
Medusa • Medusa was a mortal women until she was cursed by Athena • She was turned into a demon with snakes for hair • If she looked at you after she had the curse you would turn directly into stone • Perseus was the one man who slayed Medusa
Cyclopes • Cyclopes are giant monsters with one giant eye in the middle of their foreheads • The Cyclopes were trapped in taurteraus until Zeus released them after overthrowing Cronus • They thanked him by making him all the lightning bolts he needed
Cerberus • Cerberus is a dog with three heads and a vicious and poisonous snake as a tail • Cerberus guards the gate to the underworld he will let anyone in but will not let anyone out
Hydra • The Hydra is a monster with nine heads and they breath very poisonous breath • It lives near swamps and cattle and crops • The Hydra is hard to kill because if you cut off a head two more will quickly replace the head • Hercules killed the Hydra
Hecatorcheires • The Hecatorcheirs are very unusual creatures • They each have 50 heads and 100 hands • They were released with the Cyclopes and now guard the gate to taurteraus so the titans cant get out
Zeus • The head God • His symbol is a lightning bolt • He is the God of the sky • Sits on the center throne • (D’aulairs book of Greek myths, 22, 23)
Hestia • Was one of the gods and goddesses who got devoured by Cronus • Goddesses of the hearth • Her symbol is a fire and she sits in the middle of the throne room
Poseidon • He got eaten by Cronus • The god of the sea • The trident is his symbol and he sits left of Zeus
Hades • Was eaten by Cronus • Is the god of the underworld • His symbols are black horses, a black chariot, and the cap of invisibility • He does not have a throne in Olympus he stays in the underworld
Hera • Was devoured by Cronus • She is the queen of Olympus and the god of marriage • Her symbols are the Peacock and a crown • She is married to Zeus and sits on his right in the throne room
Demeter • She was eaten by Cronus • She was the god of the harvest • Her symbols are wheat and Persephone • She sits on the throne far on Zeus’s right
Athena • She is the god of wisdom and war in just strategies • Her symbols are the spear, an owl, and breastplate with Medusa • She was one of Zeus’s daughters • She sits two thrones to the right of Zeus
Ares • The god of War • His symbols are war gear • He sits two thrones to the left of Zeus
Apollo • He is the god of light, music, prophecies, and mice • His symbols are the lyre and the sun chariot] • He sits three thrones to the right of Zeus • Is the twin of Artemis
Aphrodite • The goddess of love • Her symbols are a rose and a dove • She came from the sea • She sits three thrones to the left of Zeus
Artemis • The goddess of the hunt • Her symbols are the bow and arrows • She is a person who will never grow up • She sits four thrones to the right of Zeus
Hephaestus • He is the god of smiths and fire • His symbols are the hammer and the anvil • He sits four thrones to the left of Zeus
Dionysus • The god of wine and merriment • His symbol is grape leaves • He sits five thrones to the right of Zeus
Hermes • He is the messenger of the gods • His symbols are winged shoes and a winged helm • He sits five thrones to the left of Zeus
Persephone • She is the god of spring • Her symbol is the pomegranate • She sits on Demeter's lap • She is the queen of Hades
