  3. Digital Immigrants You! • People born before 1980 who had to adapt to technology as a part of life • Have had to integrate technology into the way that they previously handled day to day tasks

  4. Atoms and Bits • Atoms take on a more physical form and therefore more space • Bits are much more condensed and allow for greater storage and consumption bringing convenience and ease of use

  6. How does this benefit business? • Reach a broader consumer base with internet sales • Internet marketing cheap, effective, and instant Digital Natives will move markets and transform industries, education ,and global politics. – Palfrey & Gasser

How has “digitizing” changed our day to day lives? “Computers are not about computing anymore they are about living” - Negroponte • How do we communicate? • Text messaging, social networking • How do we receive information? • Online news, blogs, micro-blogs (twitter) • How did we get here? • Innovation comes out of necessity- we needed easier faster ways of communicating. Voila!

  9. WWW’s ugly side • Kids/Teens over sharing-personal information due to a lack of perception of the availability of the information they put out (internet pedophiles) • Cyber-bullying • Internet addiction • Hackers
