ORIS Outcomes since FY07 funding SAGE Suite • Electronic Upload and routing of application materials eliminates wasted time spent walking paper materials across campus, saving time and money across campus • Copy feature reduces eGC1 data entry by 50% • Electronic Advance Budget Request (ABR) form streamlined process and reduces data entry by 40% • New GCA system supports pre and post-award process integration • SPÆRC build-out improves efficiency in OSP • Systems integration with Grants.gov reduces data entry by 40% • Automated award process across OSP and GCA reduces award processing time • Budget module will improve accuracy and consistency of budgets Support for Human Subjects • DORA database improves tracking and reporting for Human Subjects • Document management site supports accreditation process Learning and Support Services • Full-time ORIS help desk, with average turn around of 30 minutes • ORIS Learning Program delivers 6 ongoing programs and partners with POD
Grant RunnerSystems integration with Grants.gov Phase 1: NIH with modular budgets Benefits • Up front data validation will reduce the number of applications returned for error correction • Early submissions indicate that Grant Runner forms reduce form completion time by 50% • Real-time Grants.gov and NIH status in SAGE • Makes it easier to monitor submission and respond to issues • Eliminates unnecessary phone calls and saves time Status: 10 applications submitted, currently in Beta, Go/No-Go in April What’s Next • Further development dependent on SAGE budget module • Use Grants.gov submission statistics to drive prioritization of supporting new opportunities
Budget ModuleDetailed budget building in SAGE Phase 1: Build a budget according to UW accounting codes; optional use Benefits • Save people time and improve accuracy • Automated access to salary information • Auto calculation of benefit costs based on salary type • Import into eGC1 reduces data entry • Improve F&A calculation Status: Working toward early May deployment What’s Next? • Output to Grant Runner – 424 R&R budget form • Integration among pre-award modules • Integration with upcoming eAward module
Research Administration RoadmapCollaboration toward an integrated research portal New Projects Being Launched: • Research Administration Data Consolidation (RADC) – improved access to centrally held research administration data through the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) • Partnership with OIM • Will rely on collaboration among College/School ‘data analysts’ • Office of Technology Transfer Information Services (OTTIS) – improved systems support for UW TechTransfer services • Partnership with UWTT Identified as next highest priority areas: • Researcher centric one-stop-shop for research administration • Improved system support for EH&S oversight
