FIMS Population Queries • Background • Population queries were originally introduced to FIMS in FY2002 as part of an initiative to fully populate the data in FIMS by the end of FY2002 • In FY2005, population queries were developed to verify that the data elements being reported to the Federal Real Property Profile (FRPP) were likewise fully populated

FIMS Population Queries • Background • The population queries were developed in Microsoft Access databases • Using Microsoft Access requires: • The installation of the Oracle 9i client software on the end user’s computer • Modifications to the HQ firewall for some sites • Downloading new Access databases from the FIMS website every 90 days because of mandated password changes

FIMS Population Queries • What are the Population Queries? • Reports that calculate the percentage of population for a specific FIMS data field, such as Usage Code • A second report, titled the Exception Rpt, can be generated for a site to identify the individual FIMS records by Property ID that are missing data for a specific data field

  5. FIMS Population Queries • What do they look like? • Every one should be very familiar with the Deferred Maintenance population report that is sent out as the deadline approaches for the fiscal year end reporting requirement • This report is sent out daily as the deadline approaches

  11. FIMS Population Queries Tool • Found in FIMS under the Administration menu, Pop Query sub-menu • Site(s) selection is made from a picklist • Select one of the following buttons to generate the report: • Population % • Exception Rpts

  12. FIMS Population Queries Tool • There are multiple sheets to both the Population % report and the Exception Rpts report • The first sheet provides a summary of the remaining detailed report sheets • Each detailed report sheet reflects different FIMS data fields
