Warwick Castle is one of the famous medieval castle in England. It is situated in Warwick, the county town of Warwickshire. Warwick Castleby Victor Kam It was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 within or adjacent to Anglo-Saxon burh of Warwick andwas used as a fortification until the early 17th century, when Sir Fulke Greville converted it to a country house. Since its construction, the castle has changed drmatically, for example: the additions of towers and restructurement of the residential buildings. In the 12th century it was rebuilt with stone from the original wooden motte-and-bailey. During the Hundred Years War, the facade opposite the town was refortified, resulting in one of the most recognisable examples of 14th century military architecture. In the 17th century the grounds were turned into a garden. Warwick Castle was purchased by The Tussauds Group in 1978 and opened as a tourist attraction. As a tourism spot, the castle also provide many types of events, e.g. Dinner in the Great Hall or in the State dining room where you can surrounded by the beautiful works of art and treasures around the world; skating in the courtyard during the winter time and experience of being an archer. The castle is also the subject of many ghost stories. Fulke Greville is said to haunt the Watergate Tower, despite the fact that he was murdered in Holborn; the Watergate Tower is also known as the Ghost Tower and for most of the year it is home to "Warwick Ghosts Alive",.
