  3. A quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel Parallelogram: Rhombus: Rectangle: Square: A parallelogram with four congruent sides A parallelogram with four right angles A parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles.

  4. A quadrilateral with two pairs of adjacent sides congruent and no opposite sides congruent Kite: Trapezoid: Isosceles Trapezoid: A quadrilateral with exactly one pair of parallel sides A trapezoid whose nonparallel opposite sides are congruent.

  5. Example 1 Classifying a Quadrilateral • Judging by appearance, classify DEFG in as many ways as possible. • Determine the most precise name for DEFG

  7. Example 2 Classifying by Coordinate Methods A) Determine the most precise name for quadrilateral LMNP.

  8. B) Determine the most precise name for quadrilateral ABCD with vertices A(-3, 3), B(2, 4), C(3, -1), and D(-2, -2).

  9. C) Determine the most precise name for quadrilateral with vertices Q(-4, 4), B(-2, 9), H(8, 9), and A(10,4).
