  2. Throwers • The throwers are a unique part of a track team. • They are the ‘field’ part of the team. • Throwers throw the discus, shot put, hammer, and javelin. • Throwers have a different build than other members of the team. Home Slide

  3. Sprinters • Sprinters have bigger muscles and are built. • They run short distances, like the 100 and 200 meter dash. Sometimes they run the 400 meter dash. • Sprinters run with their knees and toes up and run as fast as they can to get to the finish line. • Sprinters do short and fast workouts in practices.   4. Jumpers • Jumpers also use the ‘field’ part of track and field. • Their events include long jump, triple jump and high jump. • Jumpers have very powerful legs and fast-twitch muscles. • They either jump into a pit of sand or over a bar when they compete. Home Slide

Hurdlers • Hurdlers are usually sprinters. • They compete in either the 100 hurdles or the 400 hurdles. • Hurdlers run over hurdles, which are at different heights depending on the race they are running. • They practice by doing short sprints, longer sprints, or distance runs to get ready for a meet.
