  3. IMPORTANT DATES • March 12: 6th grade Tryouts for boys and girls (Time Trials in 100/400/1600). Meet in the CPMS Aux gym after school and ends at 4:00 (spot on the team depends on time) • March 13: 7th/8th Girls Time Trials after school and ends at 4:00 • March 15: 7th/8th Boys Time Trials after school and ends at 4:00 • March 19: Practice begins after school till 4:30 each day (Must have a physical on file)

  4. Team Management • Work expectations • Attendance – precedence over other activities • Academics & behavior – Respectful and Hard Working • Pickups – at CPMS • Dress code (no cheer shorts) • Wellness – Physicals due before participating! • Wednesday’s – Study Table then Team Practice

  5. Schedule of Events • April 10th first meet – Home Meet • Meet schedule is on CPMS home page/athletics – look at monthly calendar • Events/Runners Posting Day Before • Approximately 2 hours to hold a meet. Add bus time and this should give approximate time of return. • Athletes encouraged to take cell phones on away meets

  6. Meet Days • Away Meets – Student participating in an away meet must ride the bus to the meet. Students are to stay after school until bus departs. (Food/Water/Cell Phones are encouraged to bring) • Home Meets – Students are to report back to school at 4:15. If an athlete leaves after school they cannot enter the school property until the reported time at 4:15.

  7. Race Expectations • Based on times and coaches decision • Prove readiness • Try to get everyone involved in Home meets • Not all athletes will go on away meets • Athletes must ride bus to away meets • Parent Signature required to take athlete home on Away meets

  8. Odds & Ends • Jerseys will be signed out for Varsity. • Does your student have suitable shoes? (Blue Mile – Greenwood Mall) • Water bottles (label) • Locks – Need to bring own • T-shirts/Shorts and Sweatshirts (Order Form) • Must order a T-Shirt and have blue shorts • Spikes are not required but can provide an advantage in sprinting. (1/4 inch or smaller) Worn only in limited practices

  9. Mid-State/County • Top Two athletes per event – one alternate • Only participates practice during these weeks • Decision based on performance, dependability, practices, coaches best decision to score the most points

  10. And the award goes to… • Hardest Worker • Mental Attitude • Most Improved • Academic • Other awards by coaches • Award Party (To Be Announced)

  11. Communication • Call main office if you need to speak to a coach. • Coach Williams, Coach Croy, Coach Bailey, Coach Keith or Coach McNeill • Check Coach Williams website from CPMS for schedule and announcements. (CPMS home page/Dept Grade Level/Math/Williams – link is at top under TRACK) • Need volunteers for Home Track Meets (timers/field events) Please contact Coach Williams or Mr. Staley

Responsibilities • Head Coach: Williams • Hurdles/Discus/Administration • Coach: Keith • High Jump/Long Jump • Coach: Croy • Shot Put/400/4x400 relay • Coach: McNeill • 2400/1600/800 • Coach: Bailey • 100/200/4x100 Relay • "It is at the coach's discretion to dismiss an athlete from the team due to violation of school or team rules, this includes ISS/OSS or any other incident”
