  3. Performing Arts is not JUST for aspiring actors! The pathways chosen by drama students can include: Law, Media, Teaching, Medicine, Business, Retail, Emergency Services and many more. Join us on our journey….

  4. Students perform in a 30 minute Shakespearian play as part of a 2 hour show. They have a workshop with professional actors and perform at either Grimsby Auditorium, Hull Truck Theatre or Lincoln Drill Hall Theatre on a professional stage This is usually in October/November in year 11 Parents are asked to contribute for the cost of transport (usually between £10-£20) to this as school pays £1000 to take part Join us on our journey….

Expectations Students must: Attend all required rehearsals and know the lines for the scene Know all their lines completely at least 2 weeks before assessment Give and receive feedback Focus in lessons and rehearsals (students are marked on their conduct in every lesson) Use their imagination! It is their performance! Be committed to the course. Trust each other and work with everyone Join us on our journey….

  6. “There are no small parts there are only small actors!” Students CAN get a distinction if their character only has a few lines They can and SHOULD show their skills through alternative acting techniques Join us on our journey….

In this component, you will develop your understanding of acting by examining he work of existing practitioners and the processes used to create performance You will experience a range of works across the discipline of acting by viewing recorded and/or live work. This is mainly theory study based and you will be expected to explore the practical elements in component 2 via workshops . They link very well together  Component 1 – 30% • Exploring the Performing Arts Join us on our journey….

This component is a practical overview of skills, techniques and practices require for the discipline of acting. • You will apply these techniques to the rehearsal and performance process, with regard to your own work and when interpreting that of others. • You will review skills and techniques, like last year, in order to understand your ability and progression opportunity. • You will use many transferable skills like, teamwork, leadership and communication • This also follows on very nicely to component 3 in year 11. Component 2 – 30% • Developing Skills and Techniques in the Performing Arts Join us on our journey….

Component 2 cont… You will participate in teacher-led sessions developing your ability to work as a group as well as individually You will develop and learn skills and techniques which will enable you to reproduce a drama piece from existing work You will observe and discuss current works or repertoire and we will select pieces to reproduce that match the ability of the group. Physical, interpretative and stylistic acting skills will be developed from week to week, building to the performance of set pieces from current work or repertoire Feedback from teacher and peer/self assessment will help you to refine your skills Join us on our journey….

This component draws on your knowledge and skills that you have developed throughout the course and apply them to a brief • Structure key features of the acting style and creative techniques of professional practitioners will inform your creativity • The development of acting skills covered in component 2 will aid your understanding of skills and techniques you will need to select during the initial stages, rehearsal process and final performance.
