  3. Skills ? • Highly numerate • Able to manage large budgets • Technical ability • Law – ‘Elf ‘n’ Safety/Contracts/PPA’s • Persuasive • Understanding your colleagues • Communication • Awareness

  4. Skills ? Cont’d • Challenging • Tenacious • Networker • Many more • Depends on organisational structure

  5. Qualifications/Level ? • Working understanding of many subjects • Advanced understanding of science/economics/environmental issues/general management • Level & qualifications mix with experience

  6. Opportunities ? • Massive and diverse • Organisations will have different needs later in programmes than early on • Different, & constantly changing, skills will be needed • Different mixes of management & technical • More understanding of “the bigger picture”

  7. Obstacles ? • Lack of suitable training • Major change of direction • Energy needs to be a mainstream subject
