  1. By: Kaitlyn Maita How To Survive 6th Grade! By: Kaitlyn Maita

  2. Anecdote This past January I didn’t concentrate or organize my work in math. I got distracted and didn’t listen to the lessons. I didn’t know how to solve the problems I was given and ended up making my first B ever! Looking back on my mistake I feel embarrassed, but I know how to solve it. I have now started planning time after school for studying and a organization system for my work. I hope you don’t make the same mistake! Try using a school planner to keep your plans for homework organized!

  3. CompareandContrast BOTH Allows you to make new friends Gives you the opportunity learn more responsibility Allows you to have a good education PARENTS KNOW EVERYTHING 5TH GRADE • Many people you have known since 1st grade • Teachers have sympathy to those who forgot their homework. • Easier classes with short test • Spelling Tests • PARENTS KNOW EVERYTHING! 6TH GRADE • More Freedom • Longer tests and questions • Strings, band and chorus classes daily. • Different teachers with different attitudesEVERYTHING • LOCKERS!!! • PARENTS KNOW

  4. Problem And Solution For me 6th grade was a stressful year, but It was stressful because I didn’t have any help conquering 6th grade. I came across many problems that I didn’t know the answer to. I now know the answers. One of my problems was due dates. I waited till the last minute in 5th grade, but slowly I figured out it wont work in 6th grade. I started planning out when to do my projects and ended up turning them in a day before they were due. Another problem was the people I hung out with. My solution to that was to keep them as friends but not BFFS. One time I had a lot of makeup work that I had to do, so I wrote in my agenda what to do each day I got home from school. I ended up finishing all of it! In January I didn’t understand how to work a problem in math. I didn’t ask anyone how to do it and ended up making a B. The solution, that I have made, was that I should of asked my teacher. Most nights when I had homework I would do it right before I go to bed, but sometimes I don’t finish till homeroom the next day. I now have started doing my homework right after I come home from school and I turn everything in on time.

  5. Cause and Effect • If you skip class in language, then Mrs. Meza will come and hunt you down. • If you study for a upcoming test, you will then pass the test. • If you use your phone during class, then you risk getting your phone taken up. • If you don’t turn your homework in on time you will get a low grade and lunch detention. • If you are always on your best behavior you will definitely pass 6th grade.

  6. How To Be A Successful Student Being a successful student means staying on task, interacting with the class, and coming to class prepared and determined. You need to set goals and be super determined to reach them. Sometimes you will need to make a study plan so you have time to do everything your teachers assigned. If you ever feel down or distressed ask your parents for support and help on what you should do. Remember you should always attend class and make school a priority.

  7. My Expertise My expertise is geography. I know a lot about capitals, physical features, countries, and culture. I have gained this information about geography from the places I have traveled, my teachers, and definitely my parents. With every place I travel I gain more and more knowledge about different countries and their political and physical problems. I learn how I can do my share to help other countries and people. By learning about others struggles through geography I’m learning how to be a better person.
