  2. El comencament del seu reinat va estar marcat per la Batalla de Muret (1213)

  3. Jaume I dedicarà els primers anys del seu regnat a sotmetre els nobles rebels, recruada la pugna noblesa-monarquia amb episodis com els llocs d'Albarrasí, (1220) i Moncada (1223) , arribant inclús a caure presoner en 1224.

  5. En els últims anys de la seua vida va promoure dos croades a Terra Santa (1269 i 1274) , fracassant ambdós intents. Malalt, va abdicar en els seus fills, Pere i Jaume, i va morir a València en 1276. Soterrat en Poblet, els seus restes van ser traslladats en 1835 a Tarragona i reintegrats a Poblet en 1952."
