  2. Tutankhamun was born at Akhetaten (the capital city of Egypt) in 1342 or 1343 B.C. He was born during the 18th Egyptian dynasty and was the 12th king. • King Tut was just a nickname. His real name was Tutankhamun meaning “the living image of Aten.” • King Tut’s father was Akhenaten, who was also known as the heretic king. • He was known for being the youngest pharaoh. • He married his half-sister, Ankhesenpaaten.   3. King tut Mother • Researchers are unsure about who his mother was. Some think it was Queen Kiya, and others think it could have been Queen Nefertiti. • They believe this because her tomb was found near him. • Her tomb was found in the Valley of the Kings. • Some believe that she died of childbirth. • Some also believe that she could have fallen into disgrace and been sent away from the Court or even killed.
