  2. Welcome to the Bernardo Heights School Library • As a Library TA, you will be expected to become knowledgeable in library procedures and policies • It is also hoped that you will obtain knowledge and experience in doing library research that will benefit you in your educational career

  6. Library Staff Member Ms. Sheldon Library Media Teacher Ms. Sheldon’s responsibilities include the overall operations of the Library and the supervision of the Library staff. Ms. Sheldon is also the Library Media Teacher at Mesa Verde Middle school. That makes it necessary for her to split her time between the two libraries. She will be with us on Thursday and Fridays as well as every other Wednesday.

  7. Library Staff Member Mrs. Everett Library Media Technician Mrs. Everett is responsible for all the “ins and outs”of the daily operation of the Library and supervises the Library TA program.

  8. BHMS Library Policies The Library is open: M - Th – 7:30am to 3:45 pm F 8:00 to 3:30 pm Abbreviated schedules are posted for Collaboration Days

BHMS Library policies • Check-out policies: • Patrons may check-out up to 5 books, & sometimes we will limit by allowing only 1 per subject or author (for example, a student would only be able to check out 1 book on origami or 1 Harry Potter book) • Normal loan period is 2 weeks • Reference materials are not allowed to be checked out

  10. BHMS Library Policies Overdues and Fines Patrons with overdue materials and/ or fines do not have library privileges until the obligation is cleared.

Miscellaneous information • Students may come to the library during class time -- if they have a pass from their teacher • Patrons who need to check out material from the library will bring the items to the circulation desk with their ID card. ID card is required for all checkouts! • BHMS library collection contains books, and magazines accessible to all patrons

  12. BHMS Library Computer Policies • The use of the Library computers is a privilege for which all users accept responsibility. The computers are intended to support your learning and provide addidtional resources for your research. Computer use is RESTRICTED TO ACADEMIC USE ONLY. Therefore please adhere to the following • NO • Food, Gum, or Drinks (including water) • Games • Shopping • Gambling • Use of Chat Rooms • Instant Messaging (AIM) • Use of Personal E-mail • Vandalism or theft of equipment • Altering of the desktop settings • Downloading software There is no right to privacy in the use of the computer system. The Library reserves the right to monitor and access information on the system for the purpose of determining whether a violation of these restrictions has occurred. Any violation of these rules will result in loss of your privileges to use computers on campus.

BHMS LibraryComputer Log On(1st time users) • To log on to the computer • under context select • student • under username • type in: your complete student ID # • under password • type in: your birth date • Use this 6 digit format: 000000 • After successfully logging in, you will be prompted to change your password to something other than your birthday (if not prompted, select Ctrl, Alt, Delete)
