Privileges include: • - Check out up to 2 books at a time. • - Read any genres you like the rest of the school year. • - Participate in every Reading Celebration. Genre Guide Below are genres of literature featured on your Reading Passport. Award-Winning Fiction: stories that have won an award for best story or best illustrations. Folklore: stories that have been passed on in spoken form Nonfiction: books that provide information about a topic Picture Book: stories told through illustrations Poetry: a collection of words that express an emotion or idea often with a specific rhythm Read Aloud Fiction: stories read aloud to an individual or a group Study Requirements Studies allow you to compare and contrast two books that have something in common. Your Reading Passport includes these studies: • Picture Book Study - Read 2 Picture Books within the same genre. • Nonfiction Topic Study - Read 2 Nonfiction books about the same topic.
