Report 2004 First half 2004: Zero Budget Assisted with conceptual development of SP-IPM UNIDO workshop on alternatives to POPs SP-IPM participation in Facility Workshop on IPM Impact Assessment methodology Second half 2005: US$ 20.000 Proposed to make special effort to include relevant economic, social and environmental studies into the SP-IPM database. Such studies are of great importance to policy development.

  3. Proposal 2005 Assuming the US$ 20.000 is still available Inclusion of relevant economic, social and environmental studies into the SP-IPM database. Such studies are of great importance to policy development. Could possibly be followed by preparation of strategic policy briefs.

SP-IPM Database IPM Policy Research Studies on: • IPM Impact assessment (pesticide reduction, yield/income effects, health and environmental impact, social effects) • Economics of pest management • Economic impact of pests – actual yield losses • Effects of financial incentive mechanisms on pesticide use • Effect of pest management approach on pesticide residues on crop • Social studies on effectiveness of IPM extension (adoption, diffusion) • Social studies on pesticide abuse • Methodology development: impact assessment, crop loss assessment; environmental and health impact of IPM, use, etc.

  5. What Next ? TWG Membership: Policy Research Is cross-cutting, so all SP-IPM members should participate. 1. What is needed to get policy research documented and included in the data-base? 2. What funding is required?
