Extended Services Core Offer All schools are expected to provide by 2010 • Childcare (in primary and special schools) • A varied menu of activities including study support, sport and music clubs • Parenting support including family learning • Swift and easy access to targeted and specialist services • Community access to facilities including adult and family learning, ICT and sports facilities
Extended Services Core Offer • Partnerships - schools and agencies including voluntary and community organisations • Signposting • Consultation – pupils, parents, staff and the wider community

The Role of the Governing Body • Setting the strategic direction of the school • Establishing aims, objectives and policies • Involvement in planning, setting goals and monitoring impact
The Role of the Governing Body • Ensuring that the school provides access to the core offer • Working with head teachers to ensure that extended services are integrated into the school improvement plan • Ensuring that any childcare offered through the school is registered with Ofsted
The Role of the Governing Body • Ensuring that the extended services benefit the community by measuring uptake and impact • Ensuring that profits are reinvested in the service, school or cluster • Clerks should ensure that the provision and review of Extended Services appears as a regular agenda item
