  1. Welcome to ComS 103 Podcasting Prof. Nick Burnett

  2. Introduction to Podcasting • Why are we doing this class as a podcast plus lab? • How will this work? • Is this for me?

  3. Why are we doing this? • Podcasting lectures allows students to time shift • Podcasting lectures allows a more rational use of classroom space on campus • Podcasting lectures allows students to listen more than once • Podcasting might allow you to come to campus a little less often

  4. How will it work? • Sign up for a section taught by Burnett, ComS 103, Sections 11-18 • You will meet once a week in a lab with your lab instructor • You will do your speeches and take exams in the lab once a week; you will listen to lectures when you want and need to • Given previous problems we will not be using WebCT, all is available on my web page • There will be an online syllabus for all of my sections and a more specific syllabus from your lab instructor

  5. Is this for me? • This format of class is not for everyone • You need to be able to work independently • You will need some modest technical skills • There are still 10 other sections of ComS 103 taught in a traditional lecture/lab format • You will be asked to do some special evaluations so that we can better understand how you liked the podcast lectures and whether or not we should continue the practice

  6. Questions? • Contact Prof. Nick Burnett • nburnett@csus.edu • Office phone 916-278-6508 • I am on campus all summer with the exception of June 22 through July 4 • I would love to hear your early feedback
