  2. Grosse Pointe North, commonly called North, opened in 1968 after Grosse Pointe High School split into two schools.

  3. The interim principal is Tom Tobe • The Assistant Principals are Tom Beach- 11th/12th • Kate Murray- 9th/10th • The Athletic Director is Ben Bandfield

  4. As of 2011, approximately 1400 students were enrolled at North. • North was ranked #899 on Newsweek’s 2008 list of Best High Schools in America. • North received an “A” on the Michigan Report Card.

  5. Athletics • North has won numerous State championship titles: • 2006- Boy’s Baseball • 2008- Girl’s Basketball • 2001,2002- Boy’s Hockey • 1999- Girls’ Lacrosse and Swimming and Diving

  6. Extracurricular Clubs • Radio Astronomy Team (“RATZ”) • Pep Band, Pit Orchestra, Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra • Quiz Bowl • Choir • Drama Club

  9. Advice for Freshmen • Your primary job in high school is to learn. • Take all of your classes seriously. • Come to class with all of your materials. • Study a little bit each day for each of your classes.

  10. Get extra help from your teachers as soon as you are not comprehending. • Get involved in extracurricular activities. • Plan for the future- think about what you want to do when you get out of high school.

  11. In Conclusion… • Even if you’re having a bad day, try to stay positive. • Talk to lots of people. • Be friendly to your teachers. • Be yourself- don’t give into peer pressure.
