  5. Practice, Practice, Practice • Use a pet, significant other, or any volunteer • Record yourself and review • Time yourself

  6. Test, Test, Test • Test equipment ahead of time • Test in the actual location when possible • Always have plan B

  7. During the Presentation • Talk clearly and loudly • Talk about your topic(DO NOT READ) • Make eye contact • Look out at the audience, not at: • Your notes • Computer monitor • Or the projected display • Start and finish on time

  8. AfterthePresentation • Leave time for Q & A • Respond to questions briefly • Don’t be afraid to say “you don’t know” • Provide contact info

  9. TypicalProblems • Losing your train of thought • People coming in late • Hecklers • Grandstanders • Interruptions (i.e., cellphones)

  10. What really makes a good presentation? • The more familiar you are,the easier it is to talk instead of read • Display confidence in your ideas • Passion and excitement are contagious • Smile!
