  4. Workplace Violence Prevalence • US Bureau of Labor Statistics Data: • Workplace Violence fatalities • 2012 – 767 (17.5%) • 2011 – 791 (16.9%) • 2010 – 832 (17.7%) • Leading cause of death for women in the workplace • MA: 2,480 injuries resulting in an estimated 8,680 lost days of work (2012)

Workplace Violence Prevalence • Factors contributing to Workplace Violence • Working with volatile, unstable people in certain healthcare, social services or criminal justice settings. • Working alone or in an isolated area • Handling money and valuables. • Working in high crime areas. • Working in community based settings such as career centers, mental health clinics, pharmacies, and community-care facilities. • Having a mobile workplace such as a taxicab • Delivering passengers, goods or services.
