  5. On Track for Graduation? Graduation: 22 Credits 4 English Credits 4 Math 3 Science 3.5 Social Studies .5 Gym & Health 1 Fine Art Pass all OGT’s Ask counselor if not sure!!

  6. Stay Focused! • Colleges will want 7th semester transcripts • Attendance is vital for future employers • Senior slides can hurt more than you think

College Application Process • Labor Day College visits Begin college apps ACT/SAT Scholarships: All Year! • Halloween “Safe Date” for college apps completion • Thanksgiving Finish college apps Pin # for FAFSA • New Years Start working on FAFSA Fill out taxes early • Valentine‘ Day “Safe Date” for FAFSA completion Local scholarships • Tax Day Let colleges know where you’ll attend • You Made It!

  10. ACT Sign up for ACT, but do NOT wait on ACT to apply!!

  11. Applying to College • Apply on-line!! • Faster, safer, and preferred by colleges

  12. College Apps • Each college app may ask for different things: • Transcripts • ACT/SAT scores (apply even if don’t have them yet) • Essays • Letters of Recommendation • Etc. • Send in everything they ask for • But NOT stuff they don’t ask for

  13. Getting Transcripts • Transcript Request Form in guidance • Give Mrs. Eyer 3-days

  14. Getting Letters of Recommendation • Pick someone who knows you well and likes you! • Not family though • Counselor if requested • guidance packet • 2 weeks notice!!!

  15. Application Types Special Decision Types • Early Action • Non-binding • Typically hear back in December • Early Decision • WARNING!!!Legally Binding!!! • If accepted, must go! • Fine typically full year of tuition

  18. FAFSA: “Federal Application for Free Student Aid” • Better than bank • Much easier on-line • Need PIN Number • Fill out even if siblings didn’t qualify!

  19. FAFSA • Can’t fill out until January! • “Safe Date” to finish is Valentines Day • Parent(s) or legal guardians must do taxes first

  20. BGSU Cost per Year: ~$19,000 Formula: $19,000 - $5,000 (EFC) = $14,000 of aid. University of Findlay Cost per Year: ~$38,000 Formula: $38,000 - $5,000 (EFC) = $33,000 of aid FAFSA:EFC “Expected Family Contribution” Example: EFC of $5,000
