Class of 2014 Senior Presentation • Standard: Students will employ strategies to achieve future career goals with success and satisfaction. • Objectives: • Students will be able to list graduation requirements/a-g requirements • Students will be able to analyze their transcript to verify that they are on track for graduation and if they are meeting a-g requirements • Students will be able to name their counselor, understand the resources on campus (including the career center) and know important college dates.

  7. San Marcos High School Graduation Requirements • English 40 credits • Math 20 credits • Social Studies 40 credits • Science (Life & Physical) 20 credits • PE 20 credits • Foreign Lang./Fine Art 10 credits • Electives 80 credits Total 230 credits 10 credits = 1 year

Policy for making up 12th grade classes Students may not concurrently take a course that they are enrolled in at the high school.  A course can only be remediated once the term has been completed (for example you cannot take first semester senior English in credit recovery or night school while you are currently taking the course at the high school.  You can only retake the course during second semester when the course is completed).  Seniors will not be able to remediate second semester courses until the summer which could impact participation in graduation ceremony and receipt of diploma. **MAXIMUM OF 10 CREDITS CAN BE MADE UP IN ADULT SCHOOL**

Seniors Never “ReST” • Reach • Schools whose admit rate (based upon GPA/test scores) is extremely competitive. • Safety • You have a higher GPA/test scores than most incoming freshmen. • Target • Based on GPA/test scores, you have a 50/50 or better chance of getting in. **Apply to 3 or 4 schools in each of the above categories**

PACE Promise • Have you been enrolled in the San Marcos Unified School District all 4 years? • Have you completed the A-G coursework with grades of “C” or better? • Did you meet the CSU eligibility index? • Have you taken the SAT Reasoning or ACT Exam? • You must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) starting January 1st. PACE $CHOLAR • $tudents must pass the EAP test in English and math during the 11th grade (taken during the STAR tests). *YOU MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO CSUSM*

  26. Palomar Testing • Must complete a Math and English Placement Exam • EAP (Early Acceptance Program) will be coming in the spring • Attend the Transfer Planning Workshop in spring

Deferred Action for Dream Act students Instructions for requesting documentation needed for financial aid, college and employment opportunities: • Students need to visit the District Office (255 Pico Avenue), Suite 170E, between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:00PM to request the information. • The student/family will need to bring a copy of the student’s birth-certificate and a picture ID (a school ID is acceptable). • Complete a simple form with the student’s legal name and date of birth. • For more information on the Deferred Action program, please visit: http://www.weownthedream.org/and http://immigrantsandiego.org/ • See Mrs. Gutierrez in room 209 for assistance
