  3. Problem we’re solving (Cont) • PLR and MP are more than one hop away via bypass tunnel for facility protection • When FRR triggers, traffic on protected LSPs is switched to go through bypass tunnel • There is no hello between the PLR and MP if they are multiple hops away

  4. Solution • Allow RSVP hello session to be established between non-directly-connected nodes • Hello is sent via IP, TTL is set to 255 • Hello is sent via tunnel, TTL is set to 1

  5. Solution (Cont) • Non-directly-connected neighbor discovery - discovered dynamically, e.g. by bypass tunnel setup and being selected for FRR - manual configuration
