Why is AFUNET a solution? • AFUNET is essential for the future of African Research and Development • Higher education is a pre-requisite for scientific advancement, technological development and research. Effective higher education institutions now need strong ICT capacities to develop leaders and innovators who will take up positions in business and the public sector in Africa.

Why is AFUNET a solution? • AFUNET will have a high impact on African Higher Education in a cost effective manner • AFUNET will support e-learning, knowledge sharing and research and can provide cost effective solutions. • AFUNET will enable African Universities to reach beyond campus to rural areas. • AFUNET can contribute to improved quality of research, teaching and learning.

  4. Why is AFUNET a solution? • Strengthen South – North collaboration • AFUNET would provide the basis for joint programmes and degrees. • AFUNET can be a place where cultures meet on equal terms. • Knowledge and technology transfer. • AFUNET will provide up to date services and support.

Business plan. • Technical issues: Availability of networks global, regional, national and local. Choice of technologies. • Regulatory issues : Mapping of national situations, limitations etc. • Organizational issues : For the different phases.
