  3. The Vision of APNET • the vision is “the transformation of African peoples through access to books”

  4. The Mission of APNET • the mission of APNET is to strengthen African publishers through: • networking • training and trade promotion • in order to meet African’s need for quality books relevant to African social, political, economic and cultural reality

  5. The History of publishing in Africa • the earliest roots of publishing in Africa are tied with European colonialism • the African indigenous publishing industry has not been stable enough to publish, produce, and distribute textbooks • to put textbook publishing in the hands of National Publishers Associations
