Model description • Oslo CTM2 is an offline chemical transport model and in this study we use forecast data from the European Center forMedium-Range Weather forecast (ECMWF) with 1.875x1.875 degrees horizontalresolution and with 40 levels in the vertical with a resolution of about 600meters in most of the troposphere. • Production of mineral dust is based on the formula • Production = const · u*2 (u*-u*tr), • u* - friction velocity, u*tr – threshold friction velocity • The threshold friction velocity depends on vegetation and several global vegetation datasets have been used • 8 size bins are used in the model calculations • Optical properties calculated using Mie theory (refractive indices from AERONET)
