  2. Standard • Content Standard: 5.0 • History involves people, events, and issues. Students will evaluate evidence to develop comparative and casual analyses, and to interpret primary sources. They will construct sound historical arguments and perspectives on which informed decisions in contemporary life can be based.

  3. Timeline • July 29, 1908- The design for Titanic was approved. • March 31, 1913- Titantic was complete. • April 2, 1912- Titantic went through a sea trial. • April 10-11, 1912- Passengers boarded Titantic and she began her maiden voyage. • April 12-13, 1912- Titanic sailed through calm waters. • April 14, 1912- Throughout the day seven iceberg warnings were received.

Timeline • April 14, 1912 (11:40 p.m.)- Titantic hits an iceberg on the right side of her bow. • (12:00 a.m.)- Captain was told and orders were given to call for help. • (12:45 a.m.)- First lifeboat was lowered with 28 people in it when it could hold 65. • (2:05 a.m.)- Last lifeboat was lowered, leaving 1500 people left on the boat. • (2:20 a.m.)- Titantic sank

  5. Timeline • (3:30 a.m.)- Survivors spot Carpathia’s rockets. • (4:10 a.m.)-First lifeboat was picked up by Carpathia. • (9:00 a.m.)-The Carpathia arrived in New York with 705 survivors from Titantic.

  6. Titanic facts • The ship contained a heated swimming pool • Every stateroom contained electric lighting and heat. • The largest percentage of survivors came from first class passengers. • Captain Smith had made plans to retire after seeing the Titantic safely across the Atlantic on her Madian voyage. • It cost $7,500,000 to build the Titanic. • It took three years to construct.
